The French and Italian Rivieras together form one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Amazing views, steep cliffs, aquamarine sea and old towns with a special atmosphere. Diano Marina on the Riviera of Flowers is perfect for a relaxing holiday and has plenty of excursion opportunities.

Our hotel

The 4 star Hotel Torino is highly regarded as one of the best hotels in Diano Marina, very popular with the Italians themselves. It is centrally situated just 125 metres level access from the sea and very close to the main shopping area with plenty of bars and restaurants (but not on a main road so it is a great location). All rooms are en-suite, air-conditioned with satellite TV, free safety deposit box, fridge and hairdryer. Balconies are available at a small supplement.

There is an outdoor pool, whirlpool, bar and lounge. The hotel has a private area of the beach (admission charge) and offers free use of their bicycles.

A buffet continental breakfast is served in a rooftop restaurant with terrace overlooking the resort. Dinner is served by candlelight in an elegant air-conditioned restaurant on the ground floor overlooking the pool. There is a good choice of menu for each course (waiter-service) and a salad and vegetable buffet.

Sunday

We fly to Nice and expect to arrive at the hotel mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is free.

Monday

A free day to enjoy the resort. There is a frequent train service along the coast with destinations including the nearby resort of Alassio.

Tuesday

An excursion to the Principality of Monaco where there are many attractions including the Prince’s Palace (tours available), exotic gardens, Cathedral (where Princess Grace is buried) and Monte Carlo Casino. There is a tourist train (Azure Express) for a scenic tour of the main sights.

Wednesday

A tour along the wonderful Italian Riviera coastline then a short boat ride to the beautiful resort of Portofino, one of the most picturesque fishing ports on the Mediterranean coast. Wander through its narrow streets and browse around the fashionable shops. Plenty of time to take lunch 'al fresco' style at one of the restaurants that surround the pretty main square on the edge of the harbour.

Thursday

We visit Grasse, famous for perfume production, nestled amongst wonderful countryside above Cannes. There will be a guided tour at the Fragonard factory, followed by some free time in the lovely resort of Antibes.

Friday

A free day. The local train will take you to the huge weekly market at Ventimiglia.

Saturday

We depart for Nice and our flight to Leeds.
